Police on mobile patrol yesterday morning arrested a resident of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, 32-year-old Cleon Alphonso was arrested around 9:15 am yesterday with the unlicensed gun, in the vicinity of the Anna Regina Police Headquarters.
The release said Alphonso was observed walking on the road and was stopped by the patrol ranks. A search was carried out on his person, and he was found to be in possession of the firearm with one magazine; there was no ammunition.
He was asked if he was a licensed firearm holder and responded in the negative and was subsequently arrested, the release said.
He remains in custody pending charges.
