Bartica and South Ruimveldt played to a 2-2 stalemate when the Milo Secondary School U-18 Football Championship continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Ezekiel Baldeo handed Bartica the initial advantage as he found the back of the net in the 14th minute. However, South Ruimveldt would respond in the form of Mark Phillips, who etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 19th minute.
Bartica retook the lead nine minutes onward as Baldeo completed his brace. Nonetheless, the two teams would share the spoils as Devonte Gaim made his presence felt in the 49th minute to level proceedings once more.
The event continues today with another round of group-stage matches. Over at the MOE ground, Chase Academy will battle Bush Lot from 13:00hrs, while West Ruimveldt engages Yarrowkabra at 14:30hrs, and Carmel takes aim at Dolphin from 16:00hrs.
At the Queen’s College grounds, Marian Academy will lock horns with Bartica at 12:30hrs, while New Amsterdam tackles Leonora at 14:00hrs, and Anns Grove matches skills with Eats Ruimveldt at 16:00hrs.
Meanwhile, tomorrow at the MOE facility, the Bishops’ High will oppose Hope Secondary at 13:00hrs while defending champion Santa Rosa faces off against Charlestown at 14:30hrs, and President’s College battles Waramuri at 16:00hrs.
Over at the Queen’s College venue, Abram Zuil tackles North Ruimveldt at 13:00hrs, with L’Aventure opposing South Ruimveldt at 14:30hrs, and New Central locking horns with Queen’s College at 16:00hrs.
