The Guyana Police Force yesterday detailed the arrest of a 36-year-old man of Buxton, East Coast Demerara, with ammunition belonging to an AK-47 rifle after they responded to a report of assault and threatening behaviour.
According to the statement, the man, of Middle Walk, Buxton allegedly assaulted and threatened his child’s mother with a gun. When the police responded to the report, they found 15 live 7.62×39 ammunition rounds at his residence. “Checks were made for the firearm but it was not found,” the release said.
The police said the man was contacted, told of the offence, cautioned and arrested. The ammunition was photographed, taken possession of, and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station where it was processed for latent prints and lodged.
The suspect is in custody pending further investigation.
