The police are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains by a cane harvester yesterday morning at Enterprise ‘A’ Field, East Canjie, Berbice.
According to a police press release, around 8:30 hrs yesterday Devpersaud Hublall, a 41-year-old security sergeant and Deon Victor, a 56-year-old security constable attached to Rose Hall Estate, East Canje, Berbice visited the Reliance Police Station and reported that ‘skeletal remains’ had been found at Enterprise ‘A’ Field, East Canjie, Berbice.
The release said the police were dispatched and on arrival, security pointed out an area inside of the cane field where the remains, which included a skull and bones and appeared to be human, were seen.
According to the release, a cane harvester said that at about 7:45 hrs yesterday he was working in the area when the discovery was made. As a result, he informed the field foreman who notified the police.
The scene was processed by crime scene ranks and the remains retrieved.
Investigations are ongoing.
