District Two village gets $7.5m pick-up

The residents of Wailang/Kurobrang, in District Two of Region Eight will now have some of their transport woes alleviated with the acquisition of a pick-up truck.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) in a release disclosed that on Monday, Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai, had met with residents of Wailang/Kurobrang and had handed over a 4×4 Toyota Hilux worth $7.5 million to aid the village in transporting people and goods to and from the community.

During the engagement, the release added, the minister discussed various developmental projects that are underway in the community and the country, which are being funded through the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS2030) and emphasised the importance of proper planning at the community level to ensure that projects benefit the local residents.
