Over 1,000 Region Three families were allocated house lots yesterday in the new Wales Housing Development Scheme on the West Bank of Demerara, as the first ‘Dream Realised’ House Lot Allocation exercise for 2024 was held.
Citizens from within Region Three were invited to the Regional Housing Office compound, at Klien Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, to receive their allocations and were drawn from the agency’s database, with applications from 2019 and prior, a release from the Central Housing and Planning Authority said.
The families all fall within the low, moderate, and middle-income brackets.
When completed, the scheme will boast its own recreational spaces, playground, Police Sta-tion, Fire Station, Health Centre, Daycare/Nursery, Primary & Secondary Schools, Post Office, and Magistrate’s Court, the release said.
This new housing development will yield approximately 4,700 lots together, with Phase Two earmarked for allocation. In the meantime, infrastructure works are being done in both Phase One and Two.
The Wales Housing Develop-ment is located 14 miles west of Georgetown and near the soon-to-be-completed new Demerara River Bridge, the release said.
An estimated $11.2 billion worth of infrastructure work is expected to be done in Phase Two of the scheme and will cover roads, drainage, culverts and bridges.
