After restricting the Diplomats to a paltry 48 in 13.4 overs, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) put the Diplomats bowling to the sword, with opener Brandon Jaikaran leading the carnage with an unbeaten 185 from just 133 balls.

In the GCA & Friends 2nd Division 2-Day competition at DCC on Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown, the Diplomats won the toss and elected to bat, but could not get their innings off the ground as Kareem Whitney and Mark Cumberbatch made inroads into their batting order.

Whitney snared 4/19 (6.4 overs), while Cumberbatch had 3/28 (7 overs), with three Diplomats batters unable to take to the field.

Only Rayson Gill, who top-scored with 21, and Nigel Simpson (10) managed double-digit scores, with three of their teammates sent back to the pavilion with ducks.

In response, DCC were brutal in their assault; they raced to 34 in just four overs before Kishawn Silas (9) fell. However, Jaikaran partnered with Inderjit Nannan, and together they proceeded to demoralise the Diplomats attack with a 179-run second wicket partnership.

Nannan managed to get 116 from 74 balls laced with 17 fours and two sixes before he fell to Quancy Cummings. At 213/2, DCC then raced to 396 by the end of the day as Jaikaran went into overdrive, smashing 24 fours and four sixes, while Lomar Seecharan anchored the other end with a well-composed 66 not out (87 balls, 4sx9).
