UDK, Fearless, Pro Ballers, and Hururu recorded contrasting victories when the King and Queen Beach Football Championship commenced on Saturday evening at the PPP office compound in Mackenzie, Linden.
In the men’s division, the UDK Ballers downed the Golden Stars 3-2. Kevin Charles, DeAndre Wilson, and Whitland Thom netted in the ninth, 20th, and 34th minutes, respectively. On target in the loss were Kenneth James and Tyrese Schultz in the 10th and 19th minutes, respectively.
On the other hand, the Pro Ballers downed Speightland 3-0. Jermain Beckles, Shaq Grenville, and Jose Dadas scored in the 19th, 23rd, and 30th minutes, respectively.
Similarly, Fearless brushed aside the Wiz Ballers 3-1. Selwyn Barnes, Darnell Profitt, and Devon Gilbert scored in the 12th, 27th, and 29th minutes, respectively. For the loser, Malik McLean netted in the 10th minute.
In the women’s segment, Hururu edged Rockstone 1-0 via an Alicia Fredericks fifth-minute conversion.
The men’s division is being contested utilising an elimination format, while the women’s segment will feature a round-robin method.
The winner of the men’s division will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the loser will receive $500,000 and the respective accolade. The third and fourth-place finishers will collect $200,000 and $100,000, respectively, and the corresponding trophy.
