Dear Editor,
It was heartening to see some positive movement in the two school students’ violence matters. It seems protest action by parents and others has resulted, it was reported, in the assailant in the Jamal Reid case to be charged while an inquest has been recommended into Mark Harrypaul’s death matter (SN April 11).
While parents and relatives remain pained and hurt, these recent developments will bring some comfort that justice, which appeared elusive, might finally be served. Justice might be long in coming but it would not be denied. It was also heartening to learn the elderly, Beryl Bruce, who went missing on Easter Monday has been found and alive.
Though found since April 3 but only now being made public (KN April 12), it has to be wondered how she ended up in Liliendaal and how long was she in the drain? The citizen who recognized her from the published article must be commended as must the brother for taking care of his sister.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
