On Saturday, National U-19 all-rounder Zeynul Ramsammy struck 62 while Kwesi Mickle snared 3/16 to push their Tucber Park Cricket Club side into the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Premier T20 competition with a 50-run win over rivals Albion Community Centre in their semi-final encounter.
Played at the Welfare Ground in Canje, Tucber Park won the toss and elected to bat. Led by Ramsammy’s belligerent 62 which included four fours and three sixes, Tucber Park got to a challenging 169/7 from their allotted 20 overs. Ramsammy got healthy support in the form of Eugene La Fleur who stroked 55 (4sx2, 6sx4) during the pair’s fourth wicket stand of 102.
Leading the way for Albion’s bowling attack was Davendra Latchman who returned 3-41 with Naeem Khan (2-13) and Gauraj Ramesh (2-38) turning in decent figures.
In reply, the Tucber Park bowlers headed by Mickle’s off-spin crippled the Albion chase. They limped to 119-8 in their 20 overs, well short of the required target. Mickle’s figures read 3-16 (4 overs) while Joemal LaFleur had 2-27 with Eugene LaFleur returning to capture 2-15 after his half-century earlier. Only Adrian Sukwah (25) and Johnathan Foo (21) offered brief resistance for Albion.
Tucber Park with the victory has advanced to the final to meet Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club at a date to be confirmed.
