Cornelia Ida thrash Shamrock to seal final’s berth

Cornelia Ida secured their place in Sunday’s final after defeating

Shamrock by 106 runs in their semi-final encounter at the West Meten-Meer-Zorg Community Centre ground in the Jits and Neelam 40-Over Cricket Championship.

Batting first, Cornelia Ida amassed 287/9 in their allotted overs. Richie Looknauth top scored with 81, while Ushadavera Balgobin supported with 70. Contributing 26 and 22 runs apiece were Avishkar Ramgobin and Thaddeus Lovell. Aleem Khalil was the pick of the bowlers with a 2-49.

In response, Shamrock was dismissed for 181 in 29.4 overs. Nateram Dass scored the most with 40, while Adesh Dass was the next best scorer with 25. Araya Persaud and Looknauth tallied 3-28 and 3-25, respectively, while Balgobin tallied 2-19.

Cornelia Ida will now face off against the Sachin Balgobin and Lalta Suknanan-led Windsor Forest ‘A’ outfit at the same venue.
