Santos has officially withdrawn from the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Women’s Division One League, according to a release from the tournament organisers.
The correspondence did not state the reasons for their withdrawal. Santos was on a four-game losing streak.
Women’s Football Association (WFA) President Andrea Johnson implored Santos FC “to utilise this time strategically for preparations ahead of the new season” while urging the remaining participants “to maintain the high level of intensity and team spirit throughout the remainder of the season.”
Presently, the undefeated Guyana Defence Force leads with 21 points, while the Guyana Police Force trails with 18 points. Fruta Conquerors sit third with 12 points, while Potaro Strikers are in the fourth position with 4 points. Pakuri Warriors occupy the cellar position following the withdrawal of Santos.
The league will resume on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the National Training Centre. Pakuri Warriors will oppose GDF.
