Dear Editor,
Respectful readers, please consider this prayer:
Give me the wisdom to recognize truth as truth and the strength to embrace that truth; Give me the wisdom to recognize falsehood as falsehood and the strength to refrain from that falsehood. And when our prayers are answered, we will be tested. This was the case when Dr. Frank Anthony, whom I supported, lost his bid to be elected General Secretary of the PPP.
Disappointed, I decided to support an individual instead of a party and lent my support to the then President Granger because I saw him as an honourable man. I ate my crow realizing that supporting an individual is not enough. Focus should be on the people around our choice as is revealed in Stabroek News April 16, 2024 edition. It says that the PNCR is roiling as they prepare to give the leadership mantle to Mr. Aubrey Norton. However, the editorial also states that the PNCR “… is still on the back foot from the attempted rigging of the 2020 elections’’.
Do you have the courage to embrace this truth? The editorial also states that “we’re all in the same boat”. Are you? Do you have the courage to refrain from that falsehood of “sweet promises” or embrace the truth that the current government has done more for you in the last two years than the opposition? The choice is yours.
Sincerely,
Stanley Niamatali
