Police in Berbice yesterday nabbed a now 63-year-old logger who was wanted in connection with the murder of another in Baracara during 2013.
According to information gathered, an intelligence-led operation was carried out yesterday at Baracara Village, Canje River for Leon De Yonge who was wanted in connection with the murder of Titus Sutton.
During the operation Howard De Yonge called Leon De Yonge, 63, a logger of Baracara Village, Canje River, was arrested.
He is accused of murdering Sutton on 2013-11-08 at Baracara Village.
Sutton, also known as ‘Frankie,’ 53, of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Deme-rara, was shot once in his chest. His business partner, Sherwin McAlmont, also known as ‘Shirt’, 34, also of Melanie Damishana, was shot and wounded in his right thigh.
In a press release then, police had said that Sutton was involved in an argument with another man who allegedly shot him in his chest with a shotgun.
In early January, 2014, a wanted bulletin was eventually issued for De Yonge.
Further, a search was carried out in his home yesterday and one suspected twelve-gauge cartridge was found in a bag which was hung on the bedroom wall.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Central Police Station along with the suspected cartridge, which was marked, sealed and lodged in his presence.
