Hururu and Aroaima recorded hard-fought victories when the King and Queen Beach Football Championship continued last evening at the PPP office compound in Mackenzie, Linden.
In the women’s division, Aroaima edged Speightland 1-0. Ashanna Williams recorded the only conversion in the 18th minute.
In the men’s segment, Hururu squeaked past the LA Ballers 4-3 on penalty kicks after fulltime ended 1-1. Prior to the aforesaid ending, Delon France broke the deadlock in favour of Hururu via a sixth-minute strike. However, Jehu Regis restored parity to proceedings as he found the back of the net in the 18th minute.
The men’s division is utilising an elimination format, while the women’s segment is utilising a round-robin method.
The winner of the men’s division will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the loser will receive $500,000 and the respective accolade. The third and fourth-place finishers will collect $200,000 and $100,000, respectively, and the corresponding trophy. Up until press time, several other matches were underway.
