Five police officers were awarded for being beyond reproach when Assistant Commissioner Khali Pareshram and Deputy Commander Senior Superinten-dent Michael Kingston conducted a muster with ranks from Regional Police Division 4’C’ at the Divisional Headquart-ers in Cove and John, East Coast Demerara recently.
According to a police press release, the main focus of the muster was to ensure that the actions of the ranks were aligned with the force’s standard operating procedures. It said that Pareshram emphasised the significance of upholding appearance and conduct, punctuality, discipline, and the avoidance of absenteeism. He reiterated to ranks that serving the nation was a core responsibility of the force.
Kingston echoed these sentiments, the release said, urging ranks to maintain a professional appearance daily. Officers were encouraged to seize opportunities to enhance their academic qualifications and to exhibit politeness, courtesy, and professionalism in their duties, it added. The muster addressed various crucial topics such as professionalism, accurate documentation on bail receipts, absenteeism, corruption prevention, public courtesy, and complaint handling.
According to the release, in recognition of their exceptional performance, five outstanding officers were presented with cash incentives and trophies for their exemplary conduct and appearance. The awardees were Constable Corrington, Woman Constable Glasgow Wilson, Corporal Sohan, Woman Lance Corporal Gulliver and Detective Corporal Europe, while Woman Lance Corporal Gulliver won the overall award, the release stated.
It added that Pareshram concluded the muster by expressing gratitude to the ranks for their efforts and encouraged them to create a conducive atmosphere that is favourable to the public, to mitigate against negative complaints.
