Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill yesterday afternoon received a delegation from Kuwait which is exploring various investment opportunities, including in infrastructure.
The team met at Edghill’s Kingston office where the discussions centred on current infrastructural projects that would be of interest to the visiting delegation.
Edghill advised that some projects have already been started by the government and will continue on a phased basis while financing for others has been secured and is at the procurement stage.
The minister asserted that the investment climate in Guyana is conducive and investors can only thrive.
Members of the delegation included Omar Ali Babtain, Chairman of Pedco Engineering, an industry leader in the pressing, rolling, welding, and fabrication of steel, and Fouad Alghanim of Fouad Alghanim & Sons Group of Companies, one of the largest corporations based in Kuwait with interests in engineering, construction, power, oil and gas, automotive, investment, trading, shipping, aviation, telecom, hospitality, and real estate.
