(Trinidad Express) Homicide detectives responded to a crime scene in Penal yesterday morning where an 80-year-old retired school teacher was suspected to have been killed in his home.
The body of Dennis Ramlal was discovered in the apartment he rented on Mohess Road.
Police said that a relative who had been trying to call Ramlal on his phone without reply, went to the apartment to call on him.
The relative peeped through a window and saw the elderly man’s body and blood on the floor.
Police were called in and the body of the retired school teacher was discovered partially beneath the bed.
The hands were tied and a sheet partially covered the body, police said.
The bedroom and Ramlal’s Hyundai Tucson, parked near the apartment, were ransacked.
Police suspect the Ramlal was stabbed, and the motive behind the killing of the 80-year-old man was robbery.
Homicide detectives of the Region III Bureau are continuing investigations.
