Dear Editor,
It is necessary for me to respond to the further inaccurate and absurd statements in Engineer Charles Sohan’s second letter in response to mine dated April 21, 2024 (Stabroek News).
It appears that Engineer Sohan may be suffering from a severe ‘lapsus memoriae’ or some delusionary condition. His response points to one or other of the above conditions. First he said that a section of the paal-off around my property can be seen today from upper D’Urban Street. Congratulations for this Superman’s vision.
Second, he enters into a convoluted narrative about the size of sheet piling and the skills required to install them. Totally irrelevant.
Next, this alleged incident occurred fifty-three years ago. When this matter was brought before the Ombudsman, a note was circulated inviting staff including Engineers of the Ministry of Works, Hydraulic and Supply to come forward with any information or evidence pertinent to the matter. How come Mr. Sohan waits 53 years later to speak?
Of interest, he avoided any reference or perhaps forgot the matter of the untruthful statement that I owned trucks that supplied sand to the sea defences. I repeat, I never owned, never had any interest, never benefited from any trucking service.
In the above circumstances, I repeat my demand for an apology and retraction from Mr. Charles Sohan tarnishing my character.
Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green
