Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill yesterday travelled to the Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven where he officially opened an airstrip at Paruima.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) said that the new airstrip underwent a significant upgrade,  being transformed from a simple grassy patch to a solid concrete structure. The contract was awarded to International Import & Supplies at a cost of over $397 million in 2023.

DPI said that Edghill was accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Vladim Persaud, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Lt. Col. Egbert Field, and MP Lee Williams, and Erwin Ward, the Prime Minister’s Representative for Region 7.
