Prospective buyer of Marriott Hotel passes away

The prospective buyer of the Guyana Marriott Hotel, Egyptian-born American businessman Ramy El-Batrawi passed away yesterday at the age of 62.

El-Batrawi was in the process of concluding the deal and was expected in Guyana shortly.

He had topped the bids for Marriott in two rounds. It is unclear if his passing will lead to a retendering or the second-ranked bidder will be considered.

One of his colleagues posted the following message yesterday:

Hi Everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I share some somber news with you all. Yesterday morning, we lost Ramy, our cherished leader of this community. Despite this profound loss, let us take a moment to send our deepest condolences and support to his beloved wife, Courtney, during this difficult time.
Ramy’s journey was marked by his unwavering determination and commitment to living by the principles outlined in Napoleon Hill’s timeless classic, “Think and Grow Rich.” He embodied the essence of resilience, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of his dreams.
As Napoleon Hill once said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Ramy exemplified this philosophy in every aspect of his life, striving to turn his aspirations into reality with unwavering dedication
While we mourn the loss of a dear friend and colleague, let us also celebrate the legacy that Ramy leaves behind. His spirit will continue to inspire us all to pursue our goals with passion, courage, and an unyielding belief in our own potential.
In the coming days, we will gather to honor Ramy’s memory and reflect on the impact he had on each of our lives. Until then, let us hold Courtney and their loved ones close in our thoughts and prayers.
For you Ramy, Rest In Peace my friend!
