Dear Editor,
Any objective analyst would conclude that the current administration has been even-handed in its approach to national development. There is equal opportunity in terms of jobs opportunities in the public sector and other important quality of life interventions such as access to housing, water, and education and health services among others. Any claim of discriminatory practices by this current administration against any ethnic group is false and misleading. This narrative by the political opposition must be debunked since it is at odds with objective reality.
The fact is that all ethnic groups have benefitted from the programmes and policies of the PPP/C administration. Indeed an increasing number of Guyanese from all races are first-time owners of homes, motor-vehicles and other consumer items. The quality of life of the average Guya-nese is improving steadily. The road infrastructure has seen significant improvements touching all corners of the country. Dams and streets have now been upgraded to bitumin or concrete making it possible for motor vehicles, cyclists and residento traverse with greater ease.
These developments are not confined to any region or districts but can be seen throughout the length and breadth of the country. These are tangible benefits which touches the lives of all Guyanese in a direct way, regardless of ethnicity or political affiliation. It would seem that the political opposition is now clutching at straws to project the PPP/C administration in a negative light. Nothing could be further from the truth.
One fundamental truth that must be recognized is that Guyanese today are not as gullible as the political opposition may think. People are actually living and experiencing the positive changes in their lives and no amount of opposition propaganda can suffice to deny that reality.
Sincerely,
Hydar Ally
