Caribbean Junior Table Tennis Championships
On a day highlighted by hard-fought defeats for Guyana in the Girl’s U-15 division, Malachi Moore advanced to the elimination round in the Boy’s U-15 segment of the Caribbean Junior Table Tennis Championship following a perfect 3-0 record yesterday in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Moore defeated Ajani Gittens of Barbados 11-5, 11-7, and 11-2 in his first outing. He then bested Logan Royes of Jamaica 6-11, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-8. In his final fixture, Moore downed Edwin Ventura of the Dominican Republic 11-5, 11-7, 13-15, and 12-10.
Meanwhile, in the girl’s U-15 section, Guyana lost six consecutive matches. Jasmine Billingy lost to Oceanis Gonzalez of Puerto Rico 11-7, 13-15, 11-8, 6-11, and 8-11, while Samara Sukhai went down to Yesmeily Guerrero of the Dominican Republic 5-11, 5-11, and 9-11, and Akira Watson was defeated by Valentina Davila of Puerto Rico 7-11, 6-11, and 3-11.
Watson then lost to Dixsany Silverio of the Dominican Republic 11-8, 7-11, 10-12, and 8-11, while Billingy was defeated by Lesli Perez of the Dominican Republic 8-11, 11-8, 6-11, and 10-12, and Sukhai went down to Shatal Charles of St. Lucia 9-11, 12-10, 13-11, 9-11, and 8-11.
