Guyanese people are sick of hearing where to locate the political address for their problems

Dear Editor,

Guyanese yearn to live in peace and stability with each other and with the rest of the world. Building trust in society is a requisite in building peace and stability in Guyana (and, by extension, the world). This can happen once the Governing PPP/C and Opposition APNU put aside their differences and work together for the betterment of all Guyanese. Building mutual trust, mutual understanding and mutual respect in between the PPP and PNC can happen. Guyanese are tired of hearing who is to blame for their predicaments and would like their social problems, which stems from politics, rectified.

I do understand that this sounds like a utopian statement. But in any relationship trust is needed to make it work in the long term. Why can’t grown men and women sit down and have a civilised discussion about how to rectify issues affecting Guyanese? Is it ego or lack of maturity or both? Guyanese can resolve many problems by building trust whereby the PPP and PNC will stop seeing each other as enemies and treating each other as such. We do not seem to be learning from our mistakes (or, the mistakes of our predecessors). So who is going to make the first move?

Sincerely,

Sean Ori
