Edinburgh taxi driver remanded over ganja possession, trafficking

An Edinburgh Village taxi driver was refused bail on Wednesday last when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and pleaded guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on April 21 2024 Eusi Wilson had in his possession 22 kilogrammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.  The prosecution revealed that on the day in question CANU officers acting on information received went to the location where they observed Wilson exit the car and proceed to the passenger seat. Officer Pitt approached him when it was noticed that Wilson was fixing something under the seat.  Officer Pitt then disclosed to Wilson that he received information  that narcotics were being transported in that vehicle, the court heard. Thereafter a search was conducted during which a bulky parcel was discovered having a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
