Chase Academy was crowned the Milo Secondary Schools football champion for a record-extending fourth time as they defeated Waramuri of Region #1 by a 3-1 score in the final yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Bryan Wharton, the competition’s eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP), bagged a double in the 18th and 60th minutes, while Omar Sam, who copped the Golden Boot title with 13 conversions, was true to form as he netted in the 29th minute. For the loser, Chetram Thomas netted in the 70th minute.

Due to the outcome, Chase Academy pocketed $300,000 towards a school initiative and the championship trophy, while the loser walked away with $150,000 for a school project and the corresponding accolade. In the third-place playoff, Dolphin Secondary crushed President’s College 6-1. Ezekiel Frank David recorded a double in the 19th and 55th minutes, while Gerry Burnette, Cadwell Peters, and Kellon Alleyne scored in the 66th, 70th, and 85th minutes, respectively. For the loser, Shamar Barrington scored in the 32nd minute. With the win, Dolphin’s walked away with $75,000 towards a school project and the corresponding accolade. On the individual side, Wharton and Sam were joined by teammate Tiquan Samuels, who copped the Best Goalkeeper award, as Chase Academy swept the individual accolades. Samuels only conceded once.
