After winning the Guyana edition of the inaugural Caribbean Airlines T10 Village Cricket on Sunday, Demerara will jet out to the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago to represent the country at the final of the competition.
Playing at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground, West Coast Demerara, Demerara defeated Essequibo by 58 runs and Berbice by six wickets to claim the overall title.
Berbice lost both of their games, also going down to Essequibo by five runs.
At the final in Trinidad on May 5, Demerara will come up against country champions South East of Trinidad and St. Elizabeth Junction of Jamaica. The final will be played at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Trinidad.
Among the notable performances of the day, Essequibo’s Vishaul Lall made an unbeaten 70 from 28 deliveries for the top score of the day while Demerara’s Shemroy Barrington made 50 and Berbician Ryan Ramdass smashed 40 off 15 balls to round out the top performers with the bat.
Demerara’s Dexter George snared five scalps overall for the highest wicket taker while Matthew Pottaya of Berbice claimed four.
