Monedderlust off the mark with Anns Grove win

KFC Elite League – first victory after seven consecutive defeats Monedderlust recorded their first win in the KFC Elite League following a run of seven consecutive losses, defeating Anns Grove 2-1 last evening at the National Training Centre in Providence.

Hanuman Chalisa chanting competition was well organized

Dear Editor, For the first time at least in recent history, an inaugural Hanuman Chalisa chanting competition was held at the Providence stadium in a sea of red, the colour of strength  associated with Lord Hanuman of the Ramayana.  The event was very well organized and attended  with significant participation from East Bank- based temples and  support from at least one each  from the West Coast Demerara, Wakenaam and D’ Edward Village  but with little  or no participation from  Georgetown and East Coast- based Mandirs.

Courts Optical expanding eye care service for children

As part of its mission to ensure that youths are provided with access to essential eye care services and correctional treatment, Courts Optical, a subsidiary of Unicomer (Guyana) Inc, has announced its annual community programme, “Brighter View”, which focusses on providing a free pair of prescription eyeglasses for children ages 6 to 18 years old.

A delegation from Guyana comprising Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, and  Saheed Sulaman, Deputy Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is currently attending the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s 3rd Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
