Archery Guyana officially launched its version of the Caribbean Development Archery League (CDAL), which is geared towards providing a platform for local archers to compete remotely in an effort to hone their aptitudes.
This was disclosed in a release from the entity. According to the correspondence, the initiative, which is endorsed by World Archery Americas, was the conception of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Archery Association President Sanjay Jiandani and is a programme that is currently utilised in several other Caribbean jurisdictions.
Approximately 30 individuals from various environs have already signed up for the programme’s extraordinary beginner category, which is designed specifically for archers with three months or less of experience.
Participants are tasked with shooting from a distance of 15 metres with barebow equipment.
“The competition will consist of multiple rounds, with league play concluding on June 24th, 2024. Following the league stage, the top four archers in each category will advance to the elimination finals on July 14th, 2024. The winners will be awarded medals at the CDC event in Jamaica”, the release stated. Archery Guyana conducted shooting sessions on April 28th at the Motorcross Mainstay facility in Essequibo and the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. National coaches Ryan McKinnon and Saeed Karim supervised the Essequibo forum, while Umasankar Madray and Jeewanram Persaud conducted the Georgetown seminar.
