Police in Regional Division 4’C’ are investigating a serious accident which occurred on Thursday at about 19:50 hours on the Unity Old Road, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara that has left 31-year-old Emel Robinson of Mosquito Hall, Mahaica, hospitalised suffering from a fractured skull.
The accident involved Robinson and a motorcar PWW 2670 driven by a 40-year-old man of Lancaster Village, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
Police say according to the 40-year-old driver, he was proceeding west along the road when he said he felt an impact on his vehicle.
The man reportedly stopped the car, and upon checking, he observed the 31-year-old victim lying on the southern driving lane of the road with injuries about his face.
The injured man was picked up and placed in the motorcar and taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where he was initially examined. Robinson was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted to the critical bay suffering from a fractured skull.
A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver of the car showed his Blood Alcohol Content as .004%.
The driver remains in custody as investigations continue.
