Shafeek Alli, a 22- year-old labourer of Cow Pen Street, Eccles, East Bank Demerara who pleaded guilty to robbing a pensioner was fined $75,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Friday last.
The court was told that Alli was arrested on Tuesday for the offence of simple larceny committed on Eddie Jaikisun, a 68-year-old pensioner between April 24 and April 30, 2024.
When the charge was read to Alli at the Diamond Grove Magistrates Court 1, he pleaded guilty. If he is unable to pay the $75,000 fine, he will spend three months in prison.
