The PPP Congress is a mimicry of the Chinese communist party

Dear Editor,

The PPP congress is a copy of the Chinese Communist Party’s congress (except of course, Michael Jackson’s dance recital, which was very funny and will resonate for years to come in every aspect, especially from a propaganda and public relations perspective).

Like the Chinese congress, democracy and full expression of contrary ideas among the delegates is totally absent; like the Chinese communists, the PPP hierarchy brooks no criticism but resorts to creating demigods and self-aggrandizement in order to focus on the next election in 2025; like the Chinese communists, the PPP congress commits to private sector development while aggregating more and more state control with rules and regulations which stifle growth in the right direction – GPL is one example.

Like the Chinese communists, the PPP congress packs the meeting with a great number of delegates, 90% of them representing no-one in Guyana, and, in reality, just rubber stamps for the ruling elites in that party; like congress in China, the PPP congress in Guyana becomes a gathering with no new remedies for Guyana’s severe problems except chest pounding, dancehall gyrations and self-promotion as all gather for a rollicking time. Guyanese need to wake up and smell the coffee (Cuffy).

Sincerely,

Cheddi (Joey) Jagan (Jr.)
