Linden came alive on Sunday night as the “One Guyana Kings and Queens Beach Football” came to an end in the compound of the PPP/C Office in Mackenzie, Linden with male outfit Young Gunners and the females of Speightland emerging champions of the competition.
The ‘Young Gunners’ needled the ‘Hi Flyers’ through a first minute Ryan Arthur strike without response to lift the Men’s trophy while Speightland handed Hururu a thrilling 2-1 defeat to win the trophy on the distaff side.
Shenessa Cornelius and Nikita Wayne were on target for the victors with the latter sealing the deal in the 17th minute after Cornelius had opened proceedings in the very first minute. Hururu scored three minutes from full-time to give Speightland an anxious few closing minutes with Nickisha Persaud on target in the 37th minute.
