Sparendaam duo charged with attempting to commit murder

Kevin Springer, a 28-year-old contractor of Lot 5 Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Denzil Scott, a 30-year-old self-employed resident of Lot 74 Sparendaam appeared yesterday before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where they were jointly charged attempting to murder Jermain Williams, a 50-year-old, unemployed man of Lot 88 Prince William, Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.

Electoral fraud case adjourned again

The case involving former Chief Election Officer (CEO), Keith Lowenfield; former Deputy Chief Election Officer (DCEO), Roxanne Myers; and former Region Four Returning Officer (RO), Clairmont Mingo, among others, accused of electoral fraud, has been adjourned until May 29.

Leonora boat captain charged over firearm, ammo

Jermaine Williams, 31, a boat captain of Leonora, West Coast Demerara, appeared yesterday at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed where he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm without a licence, and unlawful possession of ammunition without a licence.

Construction worker, driver charged over cannabis

-after nabbed at police roadblock Christopher Graham, a 34-year-old construction worker of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, and Nashon Johnson, a 28-year-old driver of Lot 68 Victoria Village  both appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court yesterday to answer to the charge of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

(Trinidad Guardian) St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves says “unsuccessful attempts” had been made to impugn the character of the former president of the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Dr Hyginus “Gene” Leon, whom he described as “a distinguished son of our Caribbean civilisation from St Lucia”.
