Under the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) framework, Guyana has enlisted consultants to assist in implementing its Beneficial Ownership Roadmap, aimed at enhancing transparency in extractive industries.
A release from the Ministry of Natural Resources said that this includes assessing institutional readiness, capacity building, and establishing disclosure standards.
The consultants, Diane Barker, Michael Barron, and Tim Law, bring extensive experience in this field, having worked globally and in Guyana, the release said.
The roadmap’s approval by the Multi-Stakeholder Group of the Guyana-EITI aligns with EITI requirements and Guyana’s 2024 Workplan, addressing validation issues.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Natural Resources hosted a workshop with several government agencies to educate them about beneficial ownership transparency.
