A woman residing in the Golden Fleece Estate, Pomeroon-Supenaam Region Two, was robbed early yesterday morning by two masked assailants armed with a shotgun.

According to reports, the intrusion took place around 2:00 am when the perpetrators broke into the home by removing two louvre panes at the back of the building. The thieves entered the property from the back of the yard having walked through the rice fields behind Golden Fleece. They then used a plank to cross a narrow trench where they entered the yard of the victim.

The single mother, Prampattie Mawram, also known as ‘Rupa’, was sleeping when she was awakened by the intruder who told her to be quiet or else he would shoot her. His face was masked with an item of clothing retrieved from the woman’s clothes line.

The men then demanded cash, her gold chain and her cellphones.

“I saw a man in front of me, then the man had a gun and he said take my bangle off, then they demanded my earrings, after which they wanted my purse. They took my cell phone, my ID and all personal documents, I was very scared,” Mawram recounted.

She said she was worried about her son who was sleeping and the men kept threatening to shoot her if she screamed. She also noted that one of the men was speaking both English and Spanish.

“My bangle was taking too long so the man said ‘rapido, rapido’ and they asked for the earrings and they had on gloves also” the woman said.

The woman began to scream in an effort to alert her neighbours while the bandits  escaped.

The incident was reported to the Suddie Police Station.
