-victim recovering in hospital
Up to yesterday, the police had not arrested anyone in the home invasion shooting of Azim Khan, a 22-year-old Guyana Defence Force (GDF) soldier who is said to be recovering at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
This is according to his sister-in-law, Tasha Alli, who told the Sunday Stabroek yesterday that Khan is doing better now and he’s currently recovering in the hospital. Meanwhile, his brother has confirmed that no one was held in connection to the incident and the police are still investigating the incident.
Khan was left in a critical condition at the GPH after he was shot by one of three masked men who invaded his Mon Repos residence early Monday morning while he was drinking with a relative and neighbour.
Private Khan of 534 Block 8, Mon Repos, East Coast of Demerara, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the GPH after being shot twice. The first bullet entered his chest and exited his back, while the second bullet grazed his back. According to relatives, he was robbed of his cellular phone, gold chain and cash.
