Narcotics convict ‘Cat Paw’ held after three years on the lam

A 33-year-old miner who was wanted by the police after being sentenced in absentia in 2022 on a trafficking in narcotics charge, was arrested on Saturday during an intelligence led operation.

A police press release said that at about 12:00 hrs, police acting on information received, went to the home of Sheron Chowchie at Two Miles, Potaro Road, in search of Richard Atkinslowe called ‘Cat Paw’, who had an outstanding commitment warrant.

He was there and on seeing the police, attempted to flee, but was cornered and arrested. He was taken to the Bartica Police Station and placed in custody, the press release stated.

AtkinsLowe was charged at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court back in February 2022 for trafficking in narcotics and was later sentenced to three years imprisonment in absentia. He will be escorted to the Lusignan Prison to begin serving his sentence.
