President Irfaan Ali attended the book launch of veteran journalist Sandra Ann Baptiste on Thursday evening at Red House.
The book, Caribbean Perspectives, chronicles the early days of regional integration and encompasses articles on economic and social issues in the Caribbean, a release from the Office of the President said.
President Ali, in his remarks, said that the book offers significant insights into the foundation of the Caribbean Community.
“We have to be thankful to Sandra for the ways you have captured the thinking and the nature of policymaking from the eyes of journalists during that period.”
Baptiste’s labour offers a retrospective view into CARICOM’s past, contextualises the circumstances in which leaders acted and made decisions.
“The collective attribute of CARICOM has grown enormously, and it is this collective strength that we must deploy in the future to get greater respect, greater positioning, and to ensure that as a collective, we win at the end of the day,” President Ali said.
