Three hurt after lorry slams into bridge at Glasgow

Three persons are now hospitalized in a serious condition after the lorry they were travelling in on Wednesday lost control and slammed into a concrete bridge and fence before coming to a halt in a trench along the East Bank Berbice (EBB) Public Road.

The incident happened  around 11.15 am along the Glasgow Public Road, East Bank Berbice.

Kevin Cort, 34, was driving motor lorry GAF 4495 with occupants Shevon Abbensetts, 28, and Kevin Junior Cort, 2, all of Glasgow Village, EBB.

According to the police, the lorry was proceeding north allegedly at a fast rate when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into a concrete bridge and concrete fence on the eastern side of the road after which he ended up in a trench.

As a result of the crash, the passenger were flung out of the vehicle. They all suffered injuries about their bodies.

The two passengers were picked up in a conscious condition while the driver was found in a semi-conscious condition and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

At the regional hospital, Abbensetts was treated for injuries about her body, Kevin Junior Cort was treated for a fracture to the right leg and Kevin Cort for a fractured right leg.

As of yesterday afternoon, Abbensetts and the two-year-old were transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, while the driver remains hospitalized at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
