There is a growing need for welders in the oil & gas sector and in response, government is stepping up training efforts with the aim of targeting 3,000 Guyanese, through a new programme by the School of the Nations in collaboration with the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL).
This disclosure was made by President Irfaan Ali yesterday at the launching of the programme at the School of the Nations, a release from the Department of Public Information (DPI) stated.
The registrants will come from the various regions across the country, with the exception of region one, Ali explained, and further disclosed that following this initial phase, the government plans to introduce the programme in each of the ten administrative regions to expand its reach.
