Trinidad: Kidnapped in El Dorado

Anisha Hosein

…Daughter of Sauce Doubles owner taken by masked men

(Trinidad Express) Twenty-seven-year-old Anisha Hosein, the daughter of the owner of Sauce Doubles, was kidnapped in El Dorado yesterday morning.

Up to last night, she had not been found.

The Sunday Express was told that at about 5.35 a.m. yesterday, Hosein was with her husband setting up the doubles outlet at Eastern Main Road, El Dorado when a white Nissan B15 with four occupants pulled up next to them.

Three masked men exited the vehicle and confronted Hosein. Two of the suspects had guns. They grabbed her and pulled her into the vehicle.

Her husband tried to rush to Hosein’s aid.

However, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and shot at him.

He was grazed by a bullet on the left side of his face and fell to the ground.

The three suspects forced Hosein into the vehicle and they drove off, heading west.

People in the area who saw the incident notified the police and paramedics.

Hosein’s husband was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was treated and discharged.

A team of officers from the North Central Division, led by Snr Sup Richard Smith, responded.

Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were also notified.

Smith told the Sunday Express the investigation was now in the hands of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and he did not want to compromise any leads that the unit may have gotten.

Just before midday yesterday, police received intelligence which led them to an open area off Maracas Royal Road in El Luengo Village, where they found an abandoned car which matched the description of the vehicle used in the kidnapping. It was examined by crime scene personnel for fingerprints and other evidence.

The Sunday Express was told that it was removed at about 2.30 p.m. yesterday.

Police also searched the area for Hosein; however, up to late yesterday, she had not been located.

Hunters Search and Rescue, led by Vallence Rambharat, were notified and also helped police with the search.

The Sunday Express reached out to relatives yesterday who said that they were shocked about the incident.

They said Hosein is a mother of one—a three-year-old boy who had celebrated his birthday on Friday.

They pleaded for the people who took Hosein to release her unharmed.

One relative said the family believed the incident may have been a case of mistaken identity.

One relative said up to 3 p.m. yesterday, officials from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit had not reached out to the family.

Earlier yesterday, when the Sunday Express visited the location in El Dorado where Hosein was taken, a worker at the bar nearby said despite not knowing the victim, she felt uncomfortable, since it happened so near to her workplace.

Last Sunday, two men entered the Cunupia branch of Sauce Doubles, located at Southern Main Road, and fired several shots.

One of the men issued a threat, saying: “Tell the boss lady to look out for a call on Friday.”

A 19-year-old man, who was at the doubles outlet at the time, was not injured.

WPC Joseph is continuing enquiries.
