Castrol Strikers downed Alpha 3-2 in a top-of-the table clash when the Demerara Volleyball Association’s (DVA) Senior Men’s League continued at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Entering the match as the league leader, Alpha seized the initial advantage as they won the first set 25-20. However, the Castrol Strikers unit responded in the second stanza, prevailing 25-16 to restore parity to proceedings.
Castrol Strikers then secured a 2-1 lead as they dominated the third set 25-13. The fixture would then require a fifth and final set, as Alpha prevailed 25-23 in the fourth stanza to level the score at 2-2.
Nevertheless, the experience of the Castrol Strikers outfit proved to be the difference, as they prevailed in the fifth set 16-14.
