Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn and Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken yesterday attended the Twenty-Seventh Meeting of the Council for National Security and Law Enforcement (CONSLE) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Miami, Florida.
This is according to a release from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
CONSLE coordinates the multi-dimensional nature of security to ensure a safe and stable community.
Other objectives of CONSLE include the promotion of the development and implementation of a common regional security strategy to complement the national security strategies of members of the community; establishing and promoting measures designed to combat and eliminate threats to national and regional security; increasing cooperation in mutual legal assistance in criminal matters among Members; and giving policy and overall directions concerning the activities and programmes of the Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS).
IMPACS recently advised CARICOM of an Islamic State threat to the upcoming T20 ICC World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean.
