Kwakwani and Nets registered lopsided victories when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association Men’s U-23 League continued on Wednesday evening at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Kwakwani tamed Caimans 100-33. Kimol Grimmond led the rout with a game-high 23 points. The next best scorer with 16 points was Kasim English, while Kadeem Dover and Royon Shortt contributed 13 and nine points, respectively. On the other side, R. Kissoon and Q. Bourne netted 11 and eight points apiece. The contest was effectively over at the halftime interval. Kwakwani seized control of the contest at the end of the first quartet, as they prevailed 22-9.
The aforesaid lead was significantly increased in the second stanza, as Kwakwani scored an enormous 41 points while restricting Caimans to a meagre eight to enter the halftime interval ahead at 63-17. Kwakwani’s enormous advantage remained unchanged at the end of the third stanza following a 77-31 score, as both teams recorded 14 points. The eventual scoreline was then sealed as Kwakwani netted 23 points while restricting Caimans to a mere two.
Meanwhile, Nets thrashed Leonora 82-39. Chris Perez top-scored in the rout with 19 points, while Peter Langevine was the next best scorer with 15 points. The combination of Nicquan Ferrier and Kanye Blades chipped in with eight and seven points, respectively. For the loser, Manny Marks scored with 15 points, while Shaquan Archer supported with 12 points.
The tone of the contest was established in the first period, as the Nets unit seized a 23-10 advantage. Leonora marginally reduced the deficit in the second quarter, as they outscored the Nets 17-16 to trail 27-39 heading into the halftime interval.
However, any hopes of a Leonora come from behind result were extinguished at the conclusion of the third stanza, as Nets tallied 25 points while restricting their foe to a mere seven points to enter the fourth period in control at 64-34.
The result was then sealed as Nets once again outhustled Leonora 18-5. The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of matches.
