Guyana’s Desmond Amsterdam suffered a unanimous decision loss in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday when the second and final Olympic boxing qualifying tournament continued.

Fighting in the 80kg weight class, Amsterdam, who to his credit fought valiantly, was outclassed by his Dominican Republic opponent, Cristian Pinales, across five rounds.

The bout, which was judged by Brendan McGarrigle (Ireland), Johany Maden (France), Fardad Sadegh Poor (Iran), Muhamad Arisa (Indonesia), and Alisher Palvanov (Uzbekistan), had all five scores in favour of Pinales, handing him the unanimous decision.
