Williamson loses Olympic Boxing Qualifier via unanimous decision

Indonesian referee Kabilan Sai Ashok raises the hand of Louis Colin of Mauritius in victory by way of a unanimous decision over Guyana’s Joel Williamson

Guyana’s quartet of boxers in Bangkok, Thailand, was whittled down to two after Joel Williamson was handed a unanimous decision loss in his 63.5kg bout against Mauritius pugilist Louis Colin yesterday at the second and final Olympic Qualifier tournament.

Williamson went the distance with the East African fighter, lasting all five rounds but having no answer to the Mauritian’s skill and speed, with all five judges scoring the bout 30-27 in favour of Colin.
