Two men were stabbed in La Penitence on Saturday night after going to the rescue of a woman who was being beaten and the alleged stabber is being sought.
The police yesterday said in a statement that they are investigating the stabbing of Leroy Goriah, 46, of Lot 31 Ketley Street, Albouystown, Georgetown and Alonzo Mc Lean, 48, a horse cart operator, of Lot 20 Independence Boulevard, Georgetown, which occurred on May 25, 2024 at about 9 pm at High Bridge, La Penitence, Georgetown, in the vicinity of GT Bar.
The alleged assailant is Jason Lespor, 34, a porter, of Lot 56 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.
Initial investigations revealed that the victims were at the GT bar drinking when they observed the suspect beating his girlfriend, a 29-year-old, security guard outside of the bar, on the High Bridge.
“The victims intervened to help the female, and the suspect then drew a knife from his pants waist and dealt the victims several stabs about their body before making good his escape on foot in an eastern direction.
The victims were picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where they were seen, examined, and admitted. Goriah’s condition is listed as critical, and Alonzo’s condition is stable”, the police said.
Goriah sustained five stabs to his back measuring about six inches each, one to the right side of his chest causing his right lung to collapse, and several stabs to his right hand, while Mc Lean suffered one stab wound to the left side of his upper back in the vicinity of his shoulder.
Checks were made in the area and at the suspect’s home for him and the weapon that was used to commit the act, but he was not located, neither was the weapon found.
Investigations are ongoing.
