The Guyana Cycling Federation’s (GCF) National Championship is set to pedal off on June 16, with June 23 and 30 being the other dates for the various events in the tournament.
The first event will be the time trials slated for June 16 at the Heroes Highway circuit, starting at 7:30 am.
The Masters, Juniors, Women, and Juvenile Time Trial will see them do one lap, 14.5 km (9 miles), while the Elite cyclists will go for two laps, 29 km (18 miles).
Meanwhile, the Masters and Juniors Road Race is set for June 23 at 7:30 am. They will ride for 100 km (62 miles) from the Soesdyke junction up the Linden/Soesdyke Highway to Silver Hill and back to the point of origin for the finish.
Meanwhile, the women and juveniles will pedal off from the same starting point simultaneously but will stop along the highway at the toll station and return to the start. That race will be a total of 51.5 km (32 miles).
The championships will conclude with the Elite Cycling Championship, which will see cyclists embark on five laps around a 31.4 km circuit (19.51 miles) for a grand total of 157 km (98 miles). That route will see them starting at the KD&J Supermarket, heading west into town, and continuing along David Rose Avenue.
They will then turn right onto Republic Avenue, right onto Greenheart Street, then left onto David Rose Avenue, and then head back into the Soesdyke/Linden Highway before turning back at the Eastern Climb of Moblissa Hill before returning to the KD&J Supermarket.
