Demetri Love and Safirah Sumner got off to perfect starts when the Kraft Mac and Cheese Junior Squash Championship commenced last night at the Georgetown Club Squash Courts on Camp Street.
Love squeaked past Richard Rodrigues in a five-set thriller 13-11, 8-11, 8-11, 11-9, and 12-10 in the B Division.
Continuing in the same section, Sumner bested Jeremy Ten-Pow 8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4, and 11-5, while Blake Edwards made light work of Ethan Bulkan 11-8, 11-6, and 11-8.
In the C Division, Justin Goberdhan downed Emily Fung A Fat 12-10, 10-12, 11-8, and 12-10, while Brenno DaSilva bested Tiana Gomes 11-5, 11-7, and 11-7.
Meanwhile, Egan Bulkan dismissed Nijad Bacchus 11-2, 11-8, and 11-5, while Jacob McDonald thrashed Nidal Bacchus 11-2, 11-5, and 11-3 in category D.
In the E Division, Zoey McDonald mauled Ella Fernandes 11-0, 11-2, and 11-5, Tehani Munroe dispatched Rafael Brathwaite 11-2, 13-11, and 11-0, and Kristian Viapree crushed Maxwell Viapree 11-5, 11-8, and 11-5.
In Category F, Justin Ten-Pow thumped Reagan Rodrigues 11-2, 11-4, and 12-10, and Jonathan Antczak brushed aside Gabrielle Fraser 11-5, 11-6, and 11-7.
The event is expected to be utilised as part of the selection and preparatory process for the Junior CASA setup that will compete in the British Virgin Islands.
